Founded in 1989, FloridaOne began as one of the nation’s first Disaster Medical Assistance Teams and has since grown into a nonprofit focused on disaster response, training, and mental health support for communities and first responders.

Our Mission

To serve communities with excellence in disaster medical care, mental health response, and emergency coordination—while building resilience through training, partnership, and preparation.

Our Specialized Teams

FL-1 DMAT

A federally deployable medical response team under HHS and NDMS, providing advanced life-saving care during national emergencies. Team members include professionals from EMS, healthcare, law enforcement, and logistics, ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.

FloridaOne RMAT

A regional team in development, composed of local volunteers—from firefighters to healthcare workers—trained to respond to disasters within the Florida Panhandle.

FloridaOne ECCST

A volunteer-based mental health response team offering critical psychological support to first responders and communities after traumatic events.

FloridaOne IMT

Formed in 2024, this Incident Management Team provides expert disaster coordination, integrating with federal and state agencies under the Incident Command System (ICS).

FloridaOne, Inc. was incorporated in 2004 to provide a broad range of outstanding disaster response, emergency management, preparedness, training and partnership building.  FloridaOne, Inc. is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable corporation.

1989
Founding Roots in Federal Response
Launch of FloridaOne DMAT

Formed by first responders as an early DMAT under the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS).

2004
Expanding Scope Through Official Status
Nonprofit Incorporation

Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to broaden efforts in disaster preparedness, training, and community education.

2007
Leading Statewide Medical Response
SMRT Partnership with the State of Florida

Contracted to form and manage the FL-1 State Medical Response Team (SMRT), enhancing Florida’s coordinated disaster medical infrastructure.

2015
Evolving Beyond State Support
Transition After State Defunding

Following the loss of state funding and the end of FL-1 SMRT, FloridaOne continued its mission with a renewed focus and strategy.

2018
Mental Health Support for First Responders
Launch of ECCST Mental Health Team

Created the Emerald Coast Crisis Stress Team to offer psychological first aid, peer support, and resilience training to emergency personnel.

2024
Strengthening Incident Management Statewide
Formation of FloridaOne IMT

Established the FloridaOne Incident Management Team in response to Hurricane Milton, supporting ICS coordination during disaster events.
